Pet Blood Bank 

Oakhill Veterinary Group is proud to be one of the few surgeries in the North West to host Blood Doning sessions for dogs run by the Pet Blood Bank 

In order for your dog to donate blood, there are certain criteria that a dog must meet to enable safe blood donation.

Your dog must:

  • Be aged between 1 and 8 years 
  • Weigh over 25kgs 
  • Be in good general health 
  • Be up to date with vaccinations 
  • Not to be taking certain medications (please ask us for advice if your dog is taking medications)
  • Have no history of heart murmur, seizures or fainting episodes 
  • Have no history of travel abroad 
  • Have not received a blood transfusion 
  • Have a good temperament 

One donation can help save the lives of upto 4 dogs. 

On the day of the donation session your dog will receive:

  • A full physical health check by a vet 
  • A full blood screen to check internal health status 
  • Blood typing 
  • A FREE microchip if your dog doesn't already have one 
  • A goodie bag
